Bio:
Somnent began in 2015 in Orlando, Florida as the melodic doom/death metal project of multi-instrumentalist Giovanni Antonio Vigliotti. The music is defined by a striking balance between towering heaviness and intimate vulnerability, with immense doom-laden chords, mournful melodies and deeply personal lyrics creating an atmosphere that is as emotionally overwhelming as it is immersive. Following the Eventide EP in 2015, Somnent released Sojourn in 2017 and Gardens from Graves in 2021, expanding its sound while confronting themes of mortality, grief, emotional abuse, personal struggle and the search for meaning. Somnent has managed to bring the expansive atmosphere and grandeur of their albums to a live setting with regional performances in the US alongside the likes of Amorphis, Moonspell, Sylvaine, Oceans Of Slumber, while also capturing hearts at an array of important European festivals such as Haunting The Castle IV 2023 (Belgium),
Doom Heart Fest 2023 (Italy), and Metal Gates Festival 2024 (Romania).

Now allied with Spanish doom-focused label Ardua Music, Somnent enters its next chapter with Heirloom, the third full-length album, written and recorded between 2022 and 2026. Across eight songs, electric and acoustic instrumentation, carefully chosen guest performances and Vigliotti’s intensely personal songwriting transform memories of distance, cruelty and loss into something both crushing and beautiful. Now Somnent seeks to bring Heirloom beyond its origins and into the hearts of those willing to listen.
